BEDROOM INSPIRATION
I have always adored bedroom inspiration posts , why I have no idea but they always crop up on my Pinterest feed and half hour later I’m still scrolling ! In fact Pinterest may be my favourite method of procrastination! (Genuinely despite being 21, studying and no house I have a little country cottage all planned out with about 5 dogs and horses)
A cosy boho style bedroom has always been a dream of mine but with bright white walls, laminate flooring and large floor space it never seems to work! I also moved to uni so my Yorkshire home bedroom is even more neglected and my uni bedroom is a kind of country , cluttered but cosy mess of pheasants and candles which I love but it just wouldn’t work in my home bedroom!
So after I saw a gorgeous fresh botanical bedroom with a kind of rustic type vibe I thought it would fit perfect! Originally I went for the minimalist theme and soon realised I adore candles, cactus and cushions too much to cut back on the clutter! Having done a little more scrolling I’ve decided to add a few warmer tones, big pillows and cosy Pom Pom throws!
So as stated I do love the rustic, boho , adventure type style too so without over doing it to look like a fortune tellers caravan some subtle dream catchers , feathers (game bird of course) geo/tribal pillows and of course fairy lights , I’m hoping for a cosy, lived in but fresh vibe! Being all white plain walls it needs a splash of colour and nothing beats plants! I love the idea of plants in a bedroom to bring it alive and more outdoorsy! The hanging photos off the twig with draping plants looks lush and along with a few plant filled shelves it will hopefully fill the white walls!
Sticking with the photos as most of you know I have a huge passion for photography and I’d love to include my own photos , with some quotes and minimalist prints within the room somewhere! There’s nothing worse than a bedroom that’s solely copied from a magazine with no evidence that anyone even sleeps there!
As for the little extras I love the idea of a ladder!
I’d love to buy a ladder style shelving unit for a corner of my room to fill with more plants , a few photos , candles etc... and have a few of the cool geo/tribal print baskets around the bottom! The baskets are a great way to either house more plants , large candles or hide all your washing or bits and bobs! I also like the pallets ! Who knew they could look so lovely! I like the different levels they’d add too! Being quite a square room with high ceilings I think the added height to some parts would look quite nice! My bed currently is a white wooden day bed and i literally can’t wait to fill it with oversized pillows and cosy throws! I’ll probably stick with a pink kinda colour with maybe a few peacock blue cushions as I have a lot of copper/rose gold items I can add in from my uni bedroom so I don’t want to create too much of a rainbow!
I do love a minimalist desk, tidy workspace tidy mind... nope never going to happen! I work and thrive in chaos! If I don’t have millions of things on the go then I weirdly spend far too much time day dreaming! Although the desks do look stunning and I would like to create similar but currently I have a nice dressing table so maybe a empty space for working is not for me...🙈
Although this is all thought out , nothing is ever as it seems and it will probably end up looking like a dead jungle, probably through lack of time and funds but if it ever ends up looking half decent I’ll make sure to share the photos! Thanks for reading , Megxx Ps. Since originally writing this blog I have acquired plants and have a grey throw with Pom poms in an online basket so you never know , a girl can dream!
