Casual Country (without the big price).
Country fashion is an out of this world kind of stunning. I love it, from elegant shirts to a gorgeous wax jacket it suits my life style perfectly. The price tag however does not. As much as I would love to strut about in the brand new pair of Fairfax and Favour boots with a Dubarry hand bag hanging from my arm, for me and many others its sometimes sadly just unrealistic.
As many of you know I love to create 'outfit inspirations' which are as it says inspirations. They give you a little insight to what works well and what you may wish to recreate in your own individual style. It also lets me choose all of my favourite items that id wear if I ever won the lottery! It doesn't hurt a girl to dream though right?
The feedback I get from these little outfit boards is always positive but I thought id write this blog based around high street items with a little dash of country. I like to cater for everyone and lets be honest fur and frills does have a time and a place .
These outfits are more what I wear on a day to day basis (well when im out of my flattering green paramedic uniform). They are perfect for the weekly food shop, a day at uni or even a quick lunch and a catch up with friends. They are based on more budget items that are then spiced up with a little country vibe creating the perfect casual country look. I hope you enjoy!
Im actually wearing this right now and it's super comfy! Ive chosen River Island Alannah ripped jeans which are £30 (in sale) and fit amazing but any ripped jeans would look fab! Ive teamed them with a simple cactus stripe tee (also on sale at £5) . I love stripes and the cute little embroidered cactus make this tee one of my favourites! Its so chilled out!
Next is the River Island Alannah ripped jeans again, worn with this super cute cream bardot neck knit jumper from New Look (£19.99). This knit is so cosy! Its loose fit looks so relaxed, the V neck lets it hang off your shoulders and it sits showing your belt off brilliantly! As you can see from the little board on the right teams up with the right accessories this simple outfit looks amazing! (I will update this blog when I have photos of it on as it looks so much better on).
Starting with a pair of black skinnies with a simple striped shirt gives such a chilled out but stylish look! I wear the Joules Gina blue striped grandad collar shirt which is on sale at £14.95!
My must have accessories that make all of these looks is the Mackenzie and George Wycombe cartridge belt (£64.99). The belt is so stylish and adds the perfect amount of country into my looks! The buckle is quite bulky which makes even baggier items like the bardot knit stay in place showing off the gorgeous cartridge details. The leather is also to die for!
My jewellery pieces include a little antler necklace from JOY thats really lovely and delicate. I think it cost around £16 but they currently don't stock it (however etsy etc do similar). Next is two Pandora rings and a stunning snaffle ring from Christin Ranger Jewellery (£16) I picked up from the game fair! Its the perfect size!
For bracelets I have a few little friendship/holiday style pieces and then my gorgeous snaffle bangle gifted from the lovely Hiho Silver (£90) ! Apart from for work I never have it off! I love it so much it fits perfectly with any outfit and adds to the equestrian/country vibe.
I don't like to over do the accessories so this is the perfect amount for me and adds the right amount of country style that I like but add as much or as little as you like!
For my feet I either wear a khaki pair of new balance or my dubarry hawaii moccasins. You'll normally see me in my spooks jule double jacket and joules berkley soft handle scarf too!
I wasn't too sure if this blog works or not but let me know what you think! I guess its a little like a capsule wardrobe type thing maybe, im not sure! I hope it's given you some casual country ideas and inspires you to love country fashion even if it's not so full on, more for our bank accounts sake! Below are a few more outfits and photos for you to look at too!
Thank you for reading,
Meg xx
(Id just like to add I mean no offence to country brands prices or fairfax and favour/Dubarry. You pay for quality and that is what all the top country brands offer. There is also nothing wrong with dressing full country and expensive brands either, I would if I could! )
