Fall in love...

"Autumn is the season that teaches us that change can be beautiful"

I both love and hate autumn. As much as it's full of candles, pumpkins and cosiness its also the dreaded dark nights, horses in the stables and the tell tale sign that cold and rain is on the way. However this year iv'e decided to embrace autumn and find the things I love other than Halloween.

Candles and fairy lights everywhere!

Im a bit of a night owl so I pretty much do this all through summer anyway however its more acceptable as the nights are getting longer. Your room looks 100 times prettier when its lit up with entangled fairy lights every where and the gorgeous glow of candles. My uni room goes from a mess of books to some kind of fairy cave as soon as darkness hits.

Fires

Indoor or outdoor , fires are one of my all time favourites. Add the

colder chill of an autumn night, marshmallows , lots of layers and a cup of hot chocolate and you have the perfect evening. I'm not one for wild weekends or posh dates so a fire under the stars with my favourite person has to be the best thing about autumn!

Fashion

Nothing says autumn more than lots of layers , oversized knitwear a chunky scarf and cosy long socks. Autumn fashion is my favourite being cosy, warm and not showing much skin is probably why but I really do love it! You can't beat the warm tones , deep reds and smooth greys, so perfect! Not forgetting that boots are the go to footwear! Being a country girl boots are an all round favourite anyway but come autumn I have nothing else on my feet!

Make sure you look at @hurd_and_co for some gorgeous knitted goodies!

Hot drinks

Anywhere and anytime as soon as it hits September hot drinks are my go to pick me up. There's something about feeling the warmth that instantly transitions you from the ice and cocktails in the sun to the pumpkin spiced lattes while leaves crunch underfoot.

Explore

Grab your walking boots and get outside! Autumn does not mean mope around inside all day waiting for the dark to takeover. If you have a day off my favourite thing is to embrace the changes autumn brings and go out and admire nature. Dog walks, long hacks with my horse or just a trip to the local lake make a perfect day and don't forget the camera.

Animal Snuggles

Your dogs can lay all over you without you melting! The hot water bottle effect they have is finally useful. Animal snuggles are always a fave of mine but soon as it's a bit chillier I love them even more. Plus they are fluffier! Even my rabbit is like a fluffy little adorable blob!

Relax

For me the darker nights seem to automatically mean that no plans can happen as soon as the street lights come on so that gives me a lot more me time. Not very productive but making time for yourself is super important! Creating a relaxation area (very hygge) is key to downtime. Although im sure my nights are going to be filled with lots of uni work I hope my area of twinkly lights, cosy cushions and a big throw will help me rewind and relax, something very strange for me!

I hope you enjoyed reading a few of my autumn favourites, id love to hear what yours are. Writing this has surprisingly made me a lot more motivated to get my uni work done next so I can spend the evening surrounded by fairy lights, candles and a huge hot chocolate!
